Annual Honey Show 2019

News

The NKBKA Annual Honey show took place in the DARA Cinema, Naas on Tuesday night 8th October. Over 50 entries were recorded in many categories from honey to honey cakes, candles and much more. The successful winners are shown below, displaying their awards.

Class 1 Light Honey – 1st Martin Curran, 2nd Lucy Fitzpatrick, 3rd Mark Fitzpatrick
Class 2 Medium Honey – 1st Martin Curran, 2nd Norman Robins, 3rd John Byrne
Class 3 Section Honey – 1st Pat Mercer
Class 4 Heather Honey – 1st Clare Hayter
Class 5 Novice Class – 1st Cindy Collins, 2nd Paula Sommers-Kennedy, 3rd Peter Smith
Class 6 Honey Cake – 1st Norman Robins, 2nd Lucy Fitzpatrick, 3rd John Byrne
Class 7 Bees Wax – 1stMartin Curran, 2nd Brigid Monaghan, 3rd Vincent Lernihan
Class 8 Miscellaneaous – 1st Brendan Kavanagh, 2nd Zoe Fitzpatrick, 3rd Liam Phelan
Best in Show – Light Honey – Martin Curran.

A special thank you is due to our 3 judges on the night – Colm O’Neill, Sean Byrne and our life member and long standing judge Peter O’Reilly (seen above in the white judges coat).

​A special thank you is also due to Mark and Lucy Fitzpatrick (both to Peter’s right side), who took charge of the administration on the night.

While the judging was taking place the members were treated to a very informative talk on Mead making by the Boyle sisters from Kildare town.
